Game Announcements [May 2018] — Battlefield V, Fallout 76 and more

game announcements

With E3 just around the corner, game developers has been teasing us gamers with game announcements. But several companies have already announced their new titles coming out later this year.

Battlefield V – October 19 2018

First off, we have Battlefield V with its controversial reveal featuring a female soldier with a WWII era prosthetic arm. While some people call it “historically inaccurate” for women’s role in war, that is not why I’m disappointed. I had a wonderful experience with BF1’s multiplayer but I’m just not feeling it. I was hoping that we’d at least get a new “modern” Battlefield before tackling WWII. Despite of that, I’m still getting Battlefield V especially that they got rid of season pass. Meaning that everyone who bought the game will have access to all maps. Let’s just hope that we won’t need to buy loot boxes to unlock guns. The best thing for me in this trailer is the graphics. DICE always make new Call of Duty games looks like it was made in 2009.

Call of Duty®: Black Ops 4 – October 12 2018

Speaking of Call of Duty, the fourth installment of Black Ops has been officially announced. The first Black Ops is certainly my favorite Call of Duty game after the first two Modern Warfare titles. But when I played Black Ops II, the game took a whole turn. While I wanted Battlefield to make a “modern” game, Call of Duty took it way too far. This is not a game that I’m personally going to be excited for. Call of Duty is kind of in a tricky place for my taste right now. If I wanted a futuristic/sci-fi shooter, I’d play Destiny 2. And in other situations, there’s R6:Siege, CS:GO, PUBG and BF1.

Pokémon: Let’s Go – November 16, 2018

Now this looks like a cute and fun game everyone will enjoy. I’ve only played the Yellow and Crystal version of Pokémon. And playing this game will surely be an epic, nostalgic trip back to its roots. I’ve been thinking of getting a Nintendo Switch and while I genuinely think that this game will be worth getting. But this kind of game releases from Nintendo is what’s holding me back, it’s too gimmicky. The Pokéball looks cool but completely unnecessary, they are totally using this game to revive what’s left of Pokémon: Go and please don’t make us walk 5-kilometers to let us evolve our Pokémon. Lastly, there is this false impression that Nintendo did a great job by finally making this game. They could have done this literally a decade ago, but they decided to milk the same game for more than 20 years.

Fallout 76

This game announcement caught me off guard, I wasn’t expecting that we’ll get a new Fallout game before a new Elder Scrolls game. I am not ready for a new Fallout but it still got me excited. I did not like Fallout 4 as much as I liked New Vegas, so I’m going to have high hopes for Fallout 76. Bethesda haven’t announce a release date yet and they will most probably reveal more details on E3.

More game announcements and reveals this month at E3 happening June 9-13

The Electronic Entertainment Expo is certainly the biggest event for us gamers this year. And E3 has definitely more in store for us. That feeling of excitement we get as our favorite game developers announces something new is what keep us to work hard and even play harder. So what game announcements are you expecting this year?

I’m personally excited for Bioware’s Anthem but there’s part of me that’s hoping that they will announce Dragon Age 4 for this year.
